Maritimo Muster - A wonderful event

On November 10, several Maritimo's and several more Maritimo owners convened at Key West for the first North American Maritimo Muster, ( "down under" lingo for Rendezvous!) and for the running of the Key West World Offshore Championships. The Maritimo race team, a common site on the world Offshore Racing Circuit, was there for their first ever participation in an offshore race in the United States. With boats attending from as far away as South Carolina, and Maritimo owners from California and Trinidad, we knew we were in for a great weekend!
We were hosted by Dave Northrop of Maritimo USA, and we were happy to have the CEO of Maritimo, Bill BarryCotter and his lovely wife Leslie in attendance as well. Maritimo owners with their boats stayed at the Galleon Marina, where we had a commanding view of the race course from the top of the hotel, and guests without their boats enjoyed first class accommodations at The Reach, a Waldorf' Astoria resort on the beach side in Key West. We were treated to a breakfast on the deck at the Galleon, where Dave and Bill filled us in on all the happenings at Maritimo, including a sneak peak at plans directly aimed at expanding their presence here in the United States, and representatives from Cat and Cummins were there to discuss future plans for marine propulsion as well.
We finished the weekend up at a beautiful group dinner where we celebrated a fantastic second place with the Maritimo Race Team, and promised each other that this was just the start of more Maritimo USA events. All left looking forward to meeting up again soon.
